Winter Storm in Alabama??!?!

The last thing I thought I'd ever have to deal with living 3 miles from the beach is a winter storm, but that is exactly what happened January 28-30, 2014. I actually had to miss 2 days of work because the roads were icy. Actually EVERYTHING was icy. No snow, just ice. Lots and lots of ice-sooooo not your typical Lower Alabama weather!

The photos above are from 1/28/14. They are from Baldwin & Mobile counties. I didn't personally brave the weather, so these pics are borrowed.

Rocky enjoyed the cold days. He & I used it as extra nap days since we were both iced in the house while Kevin was working. Such a lazy puppy. 💤💤💤

These are from 1/29/14 in Gulf Shores. The ice on the beach looks like snow, but don't let it deceive you.

Now it's the weekend.  Just 3 days later. Will be mid-60°'s today and around 70° tomorrow. Let's hope that groundhog predicts an early spring this year. Ready to stay warm.

Peace out friends. Enjoy your February.

Memphis Sports December 2012

How exciting! I got to see both the Mississippi Riverkings hockey and University of Memphis basketball teams play during my visit "home" for Christmas. Of course both teams won which made the games that much sweeter to watch.

December 23 I went with my brother Bert and nephews Jesse & Jacob to see the Riverkings beat the Huntsville Havoc. It was the first time for Bert and the kids to go to a hockey game and I think they're hooked. Jesse went home with a game puck that flew over the glass, and they all 3 got shirts that were thrown into the crowd. They also got to skate on the ice after the game and even met a player. What a wonderful first game for them!! I have such awesome nephews.

Then on December 28, I got to see the Memphis Tigers win with Dennis and Austin. We had a blast! I have been a Tigers fan for over 30 years and this was the first game I have seen in person.

If I had been able to see the Grizzlies while in town, my Memphis sports week would've been complete.

Here are a few pics from both games:

Home For Christmas 2012

We are so blessed that we got to go "home" to Tennessee for Christmas. We got to see almost everyone in the family except Kristin. (Who is who we'd like to see the most) We all love spending time with our sweet family, and leaving them is so so hard.

We missed seeing Rex's family who were all down and out with the flu.

Brief summary of our trip home: hockey game with brother Bert and the nephews. Go Riverkings! The Kings won and we had a blast.....Christmas with 3 sides of the family. What a blessing!!! Dinner with my BFF. Yum!!!! Lunches/cookout with cousins!!!! More yum. Getting fatter. Gun shooting, moonshine tasting (like the apple pie flavor better than the peach)). Memphis State (aka University of Memphis) Tiger basketball game with second dad Dennis and nephew Austin. Tigers won (of course)!!!!! Then Kevin had to replace the water pump before we could go home.

All in all, great trip except the water pump. Can't wait to go "home" again, but will sleep like a baby in my own bed tonight.

Here are a few pics of our families:

Going Home

I'm so excited. I'm getting to go home this week to visit. I haven't been to Tennessee since Christmas. Both of my fellas have to work, so I'm flying solo. I haven't driven that far alone, so I'm a little anxious. It'll be great to see everyone.

I'm most excited that I'll get to see Kristin. It's been over 2 years since I've gotten to see my baby girl. Can't wait!

I'm also going to get to see several family members, great friends, play tourist, and get to eat some good ole Memphis food-including BBQ.

In closing, I'm gonna post a few pictures of my hometown. Will post either while there or when I get home.

Can't wait to get to MeMpHiS!

Things I Love About Lower Alabama

There are soooo many things that I LOVE about living in LA (Lower Alabama). It is safer and quieter (even in tourist season) than my life in Tennessee. Everything here moves at a slower pace too, which is awesome!

Of course what I love most about LA is the beach! It's so relaxing to just go sit and forget about your worries.

We took this a week or so after we moved. I love how someone made these footprints. Kinda helps you remember just how big God is and that he is always there even when you don't feel like it.

There are such cute little houses here. Of course if there are neighborhoods back home that have houses this colorful too, but these are actually in areas that you WOULD WANT to live in.
I always joke with Kevin saying that I want to live in a purple one. :)

There REALLY are alligators here living in the "wild".
For some reason, we get soooo excited everytime we see these guys. You can be driving down the road and see them from the car on the banks of rivers, lakes, and lagoons.
This guy was 8-10 feet long.

I love seeing the pelicans. The coolest thing is seeing them "dive" into the water to eat fish. I could watch them for hours.

One of my favorite places to go are the marinas.
I LOVE to see the boats. I really think I want to live on a boat instead of a house. That way I will always be on the coast, and can live anywhere I want.
We also like feeding the fish at the marinas.

Mobile Bay is beautiful. This is from the Fairhope side.

This is the lagoon in Gulf Shores. Gorgeous!

Ok, back to the beach!!!! I'm sure that's what y'all wanna see anyway. :)

These little guys are interesting and creepy at the same time. They're the size of spiders and make me think of them too.

Even Rocky gets into going to the beach.
He LOVES being a beach dog :)

And of course my boys like to have fun at the beach too

Thanks for your time friends. Hope you enjoyed the tour of LA. Come down and see it for yourself.

Peace out til next time.
